2009 Komen Lubbock Area Race for the Cure

October 3rd, 2009 Lubbock Memorial Civic Center

The Komen Lubbock Area Race for the Cure® is the largest foot-race in Lubbock, attracting more than 7,000 walkers, runners and spectators in 2008. Now in its 15th year, this event has raised more than $2 million to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

Registration Fees

Team Member - $20
Member of a team of 10 or more. Price increases to $25 after September 21st.

Breast Cancer Survivor - $20

Adult - $20
For individuals not participating as part of a team.

Komen Kids - $10
Wentz Orthodontics is proud to sponsor the 2009 Kids for the Cure®. Each child who registers will receive an official Komen Race for the Cure® shirt and a Wentz kids shirt (while supplies last) and may attend the Komen Kids Korner on Race day. The Korner has a variety of fun activities and games that will take place during and after the Race at the northwest parking lot.

Sleep in for the Cure® - $30
It's okay if the early morning finds you not wanting to get out of bed you can still participate by registering for Sleep In for the Cure®. Includes Race registration, t-shirt and Sleep in for the Cure pillowcase.

In the Pink ® - $60
In the Pink registration includes invitation to the In the Pink party (at the home of Chancellor & Mrs. Kent Hance) special gift, Race registration and Race t-shirt.

Docs for the Cure - $300
By registering as a Doc for the Cure, physicians send a strong message of support to breast cancer patients and a commitment to cure this disease.

Docs in Training - $20
Medical students at TTUHSC and other medical schools can support this year's Race by participating as Docs in Training. Includes Race registration and special Docs in Training Race shirt.

Nurses for the Cure - $20
Nurses in the Lubbock area can support this year's Race by participating as a Nurse for the Cure. Includes Race registration and special Nurses for the Cure Race shirt.

Race Registration

There are three ways to register for the Komen Lubbock Area Race for the Cure:

ONLINE - Register online at race.komenlubbock.org until midnight on Friday, October 2nd.

BY MAIL - Click here to download the registration form. Mail the completed form to:

IN PERSON - Register at South Plains Mall at the Old Foot Locker (Between Sear's and Beall's) the following days:

Saturday, September 19th 11am - 5pm

Saturday, September 26th 10am - 7pm

Sunday,September 27th Noon - 6pm

Monday, September 28th Noon - 6pm

Tuesday, September 29th Noon - 6pm

Wednesday, September 30th Noon - 6pm

Thursday, October 1st Noon - 6pm

ON RACE DAY - Register at the Race on October 3rd inside the Lubbock Civic Center Banquet Hall. Registration opens at 6:30am and the registration fee is $30.

Race Packets

Individual Race packets including t-shirt and race bib will be available for pick up at the South Plains mall location (Between Sear's and Bealls) during the above listed registration times. Participants who register online and by mail will need to pick up the Race packet at the mall location. NO PACKETS WILL BE MAILED.

Team Race packets will be available for pick up by the team captain on Saturday, September 26th from 10am - 7pm. NOTE: The team captain is responsible for picking up the team packet and distributing shirts and bibs to each team member. The 20 largest teams will be delivered courtesy of UPS (Lubbock only).
