Survivors at the Race

The Komen Lubbock Area Race for the Cure® is so much more than a fundraiser. Each year, almost 400 women and men celebrate another year of survivorship. Breast cancer survivors are greeted with food, special shirts and hats, and hundreds of open arms at the Think Pink Café. The highlight of Race Day is the survivor procession kicking off the opening ceremonies.

Think Pink Café

Registered breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up complimentary pink caps and pink T-shirts at The Think Pink Café which is located inside the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The café will open at 6:45am. The Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program is nationally sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha. The Think Pink Café is sponsored locally by Dr. Rob Schmid.

Survivor Breakfast and Photo

Join other survivors for a lovely complimentary breakfast sponsored by Dr. Rob Schmid. Later in the morning, we’ll gather in front of the Think Pink Café for the traditional survivor photo.

Recognition Ceremony

A recognition ceremony for survivors is the highlight of the day and opens with a procession of survivors across the Race venue. Details of the ceremony will be provided to all registered survivors closer to Race day.

Recognizing Special People

We also invite participants to recognize those special people who have been touched by breast cancer. “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs will be available for all Race participants on Race Day in the Registration area.
